How to Wash Your Hair Extensions
Washing your extensions is very simple and quick - you can do it in the bathroom sink. If you wear your extensions often and style them a lot, it is recommended to give them a good wash at least every two weeks. However, we do not recommend washing too often as this will wear out the extensions quicker. Follow these steps to make your hair shiny and clean.
Shampoo: Close the sink and fill it half way with luke warm water. To avoid damage to hair, please do not use water which is too warm or too cold. Blend in the shampoo. We recommend natural, moisturizing shampoos as this will keep the extensions shiny and healthy. Mix a few drops of shampoo into the water and submerge the extensions into it. Wet the extensions gently. After that, add shampoo directly into the extensions. Gently wash them with your hands by massaging them and to create lather - do not pull or grab the extensions. After this, put the extensions back into the shampoo water in the sink and leave them there for a few minutes.
Conditioner: Unplug the sink. Rinse the hair extensions carefully under lukewarm, running water. Again, please do not pull the hair. Let the water run through the hair gently. After the shampoo is off, add conditioner. We recommend using moisturizing, natural conditioner to keep the hair shiny, untangled and easily manageable. Run the conditioner through the hair gently. Rinse under lukewarm running water.
Cold rinse: Finally, once the conditioner has been rinsed off with lukewarm water, give the extensions a quick rinse under cold water. This will help restore the shine and close the cuticles.
Dry: Squeeze each extension carefully with your hands so that there is no water running. Do not pull or squeeze to hard, it is important to be gentle.
Leave-in-Conditioner (optional): If you want to take extra care of your beautiful extensions, you can now add leave-in conditioner. It will help to keep your extensions manageable and shiny for longer and they will also be easier to style.
Brush: Lay a towel on a flat surface and place your extensions on it horizontally. Make sure the hair is straight. Grab a comb or a brush and hold the extension by placing your other hand in the upper part of the extension. Now brush/comb from top to bottom gently, without pulling or pressing. Straighten out any tangles carefully. Do this to each extension individually.
Air dry/Blow dry: If you are in a hurry, you can blow dry your extensions by holding them in an upright position in your hand and gently blow-drying them. However, if you have time, we recommend to let the extensions dry naturally. This will damage the hair less and they will last longer. You can simply leave the extensions in a horizontal position on the towel until they have been fully dried out.
